Country Rose Tea Room

Posted by The Scoop On September - 9 - 2008

Country Rose Tea Room is nostalgic and picturesque.   I felt like I should have worn a hat and gloves to the tearoom.  Antiques and doilies created an unforgettable atmosphere. It’s the perfect girlie spot.  I had the smoked garlic chicken spread on croissant, broccoli soup and the infamous rose tea and Butterfinger pie.  The food was excellent! ☺  I can’t wait to go back!  The Country Rose Tea Room is located at 163 H st.

Greek Cultural Festival

Posted by The Scoop On September - 8 - 2008

The Greek Festival is an annual cultural event that attracts a great deal of feasters.  Last year I disappointedly missed the food because of my lateness.  But this year I was there early enough to get some good eats, baklava and gyro, and enjoy the festivities. After I ate, I walked around, looked at some crafts, and watched everyone enjoy the music. The Greek Festival is always in September and it is a two-day celebration, Friday and Saturday. For the dates of next year’s Greek Festival check out the St. George Greek Orthodox Church’s Calendar.

Surface Gallery

Posted by The Scoop On September - 7 - 2008

Friday was the Grand Opening of Surface Gallery.  If you didn’t already know, I love artistic expression and this gallery’s opening was oozing with expressions of paper.  Four artists, Vikki Cruz (co-owner), Liz Sherwyn, Brent Eviston, Yvonne Cavanagh (co-owner), explored paper and it is extraordinary what each artist saw.  It’s amazing what one can do with a mundane object.  Surface Gallery’s opening attracted countless well- wishers. It was a complete night with live music, food, wine, and art. Surface Gallery is located at 1703 20th St.

Cay Health Foods has been peddling natural foods for over 60 years.  Before healthy living and eating became fashion Cay Health Foods store was helping locals maintain a healthy diet.  They are a wealth of knowledge and pioneers in the health food market.  Cay Health Foods carries a number of supplements, herbs and foods.  They even have some of my favorites, Dr. Bronner’s and Jason’s natural hair products. Their website is filled with healthy information. Cay Health Foods is located at 902 18th St.

Connie’s Kupcake Kreations

Posted by The Scoop On September - 2 - 2008

It’s official, cupcakes are popular everywhere! Before moving to NYC I hadn’t had cupcakes since a Valentine’s Day party in the 5th grade.  To New Yorker’s Cupcakes are the most popular part of the party. So I wasn’t surprised when Connie’s Kupcakes showed up at the office as refreshments last week. Connie’s Kupcakes come in three different sizes: small, medium and large, which makes them great for portion control.  ☺ At Connie’s Kupcakes you can get dizzy trying to choose between 20 different flavors. I had to have the strawberry cheesecake, and red velvet SMALL cupcake. They were both yummy!   You can even put toppers on your cupcake.  Connie’s Kupcakes are made fresh daily. Connie’s Kupcake Kreations is located at 1230 H St, Suite A.
