Tonight at Tangerine we had the opportunity to see the new Fall 2008 Stella McCartney Denim Line with Brittany Byron Harvey, of Stella McCartney. There were so many cute Stella McCartney jeans. They have Silicone Coated, something I’ve never heard of but they feel great and look sexy on and are very similar to leather; Organic Blue is made with organic cotton and chemical free dye; Low-Cut; Detail Wax Charcoal; and a Skinny jean with buttons on the leg. I’ve never tried on a pair of Stella McCartney Jeans before so tonight was my chance to try every pair. I loved the Silicone Coated jean, but I decided to buy the Low-Cut straight leg pair. Every girl should have a nice fitting pair of jeans in their closet. It took me a while to spend over $100 for jeans, and now I’m spending upward of $200, and believe me there is a difference. They fit better, have great color and wash and make you look Bootylicious! ☺ I was excited about my new jeans and my Tangertini!! Tangerine always knows how to create a fashion buzz! Tangerine is located at 1602 20th St.

When I first moved here I had the hardest time finding a Tailor, then someone told me about Golden Hands Alterations. I’m very picky about my alterations, especially my jeans because I spend a lot of money on them. So when I dropped them off the first time, I thoroughly explained how I wanted them altered, and all he said was OK. I anxiously waited for the time to pick them up, rehearsing what to say if they weren’t right. Well to my surprise the jeans were perfectly altered. I finally found myself a Tailor! Golden Hands Alterations is a little expensive, but it’s worth the investment. Call for an appointment.

DiorShow Mascara Sephora Lip Gloss La Mer Moisturizer
I must apply these things before hitting the door. The Dior Mascara lengthens my eye lashes, for more volume. The Sephora Lip Gloss gives me just enough shine and shimmer. And the La Mer moisturizer is heaven in a jar. It gives my face that dewy feel I love.

In Your Dreams is a nostalgic haven. This consignment store is filled with clothes, antiques, and a lot of throwbacks. They even have an old Hollywood shrine, with a life size cut out of one of my favorite actors, James Dean. I think he enjoys flirting with me with those piercing eyes. ☺ When I shop here I get side tracked because there are so many unusual finds. I love the vintage clothes, and I want to know who consigns all the cool jeans from the 80’s? I bought a pair of Chic, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Lee’s, in perfect condition and a perfect fit! In Your Dreams is located at 1723 18th St.

If you haven’t heard of Minky Dots, you’re out of touch with the baby scene. My sister just had a baby, my first Nephew ☺, that’s how I know all about Minky Dot fabric. She went crazy over finding Minky Dot pillows for the baby’s room. As soon as I entered Baby Me I was reminded of the popular Minky Dots. Baby Me is a burst of colors, with girls clothing and accessories on the Right and Boys clothing and accessories on the Left. This store is overflowing with everything your child needs from newborn to size 10. They also do photography. Baby Me is located at 9919 Hageman Rd. #200.

Women this place has some one of a kind shoes. If you have a shoe fetish, be careful! The owner grew up in the shoe business with a father who was a shoemaker, so she really knows shoes. Whatever you’re looking for, style, comfort, or classic, you can find it at Amore. If they don’t have the shoe of your dreams don’t fret because they can be ordered. Amore is located at 2900 Calloway Dr. Suite 403

This is one of my favorite vintage stores. This place has that Brady Bunch, Beach Boys feel. When you walk in your ears are piped with eclectic sounds while your nose inhales light incense and your eyes adjust to the retro colors. This store is neatly organized, which makes it easy to find more than you need. This is where I found my favorite pants, a pair of cuffed navy blue bell-bottoms, that my husband despises. Next time you see a histrionic person walking down the street, it might be me!
The clothes are cleaned before they go on the floor, important when trying on vintage clothing, and they do repairs. They carry men and women’s clothing and accessories. Gigantic Vintage is located at 1515 19th St.

I walked from 18th & Eye St. to 17th & K St. in blistering heat and 4 in. heels to get THE SCOOP on H.Walker’s 37 years of success. As I entered through the red door, confident but a little disoriented by the heat, I was greeted like an old friend, with a friendly smile and a cocktail. This was my kind of place! With such a warm greeting and debonair style, it’s no surprise that they’ve been around so long. They were like the Cheers of Retail! This made the interview exciting and very interesting. Ladies, I heard men aren’t afraid to wear Pink in Bakersfield! ☺
H.Walker’s has a diverse selection. They carry suiting, business casual, jeans, beach attire, incredible ties/accessories, and top brands. H.Walker’s is located at 17th and K st.

I finally nailed my first interview for THE SCOOP with Tangerine, which was quite thrilling. I had a few pre-show jitters but once the tape started rolling everything fell into place. Tangerine is such an amazing cool place to shop that I could have talked to the owners for hours. This is a fun place because the merchandise is unique and trendy, and the owners are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about fashion. They make you feel like you’re in LA or NYC. Tangerine is located at 1602 20th St

This was a first for me, I’ve been to several NYC fashion shows but never a collection premiere. The premiere of Tejon Ranch Clothing Collection converted H.Walker’s into an ad campaign for their new line. The windows were covered with ad posters and the men proudly paraded their Tejon attire. The sidewalk was filled with sounds from a two-piece band, wine bar, tables and chairs and people casually gathered. Inside everyone was admiring the feature table that held the precious goods, a colorful display of woven shirts and khaki pants. It looks like Tejon knows a lot about fabric quality, and style. I can definitely see my husband in the blue and white stripe shirt. Maybe I’ll treat him. I absorbed Tejon history and Tejon wine.
